Volunteering

Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by financial or material gain.

A wide range of volunteering positions is always available for people willing to share their time and skills. From computing, designing, accounting, looking after our environment, helping a local charity, coaching sport or teaching someone to read ... volunteers make a vital contribution to all aspects of community life.

Why Volunteer

People volunteer for many reasons:

  • contact with other people
  • an opportunity to develop new skills
  • a way to increase confidence and self esteem
  • take on a new challenge
  • forming new networks and friends
  • the experience may provide a pathway to employment
  • just wanting to help.
