Government House Adelaide is the oldest consistently occupied Government House in Australia. It is the working home of the Governor South Australia.

Global Corporate Volunteering Research Project

Work is intensifying on the Global Corporate Volunteering Research Project which is being conducted by IAVE's Global Corporate Volunteer Council. Here are some of the highlights.

There is now a project website. Please go there to learn about the project in detail.
Sponsorships have been secured from nine global companies - UPS (our lead Platinum sponsor); GE, Motorola and Pfizer (Gold sponsors); and, BD, Kraft Foods, Lilly, SK Telecom and Fundacion Telefonica (Silver sponsors).
A total of 41 companies (against the goal of 50) have committed to participate in the Global Companies Study component of the project. Of these, 24 have already been interviewed.
Over 20 NGOs have signed on as Cooperating Organisations. They play leadership roles in promoting and supporting corporate volunteering in their countries and regions and around the world. They have agreed to endorse the project to support the work with their knowledge and to make it visible through their networks. A complete list can be found on the project website.
Plans are in place to present the results of the project at the IAVE World Volunteer Conference in Singapore.

How you can participate: The State of Health Study seeks to collect perceptions of corporate volunteering from the broadest possible perspective. They would love to know your views. To contribute, go to www.gcvcresearch.org and follow the link to the online State of Health Survey.

Addressing Social Disadvantage Through Volunteering

Last year the office of Prime Minister & Cabinet commissioned advice to Government from the Centre for Social Impact on Volunteering in Australia. The report is now available at www.socialinclusion.gov.au/Documents/AddressingSocialDisadvantagethroughVolunteering.pdf

This report is significant in that it gives an insight to the advice that Government is getting from other sources and may give some indicators of future policy directions.
