Committed Volunteers Needed

Interested in Basketball? Then volunteer for Midnight Basketball.

At The Gardens Recreation Centre until Saturday 11th September 2010.

The City of Salisbury, in partnership with Elizabeth Blue Light is launching a new program currently only available in the eastern states and overseas, and we now need to attract volunteers.

Midnight Basketball is a national social inclusion program to help youth identify and embrace positive opportunities. It is a unique combination of sport and education for 12 to 18 year olds. Each tournament runs for 8 weeks from 7.30pm to Midnight on Saturday night and consists of a healthy dinner, life-skills workshop, heaps of tournament basketball and transport home at the end of the night.

More than just basketball, the program's motto is 'No Workshop, No Jump Shot'. In order to play basketball, all participants must attend the nightly workshop dealing with teen-related issues ranging from areas such as conflict resolution, communication skills, health and well-being including drugs, alcohol and nutrition, through to job readiness and much more.

Midnight Basketball is FREE and commenced on Saturday 24th July, 2010 at The Gardens Recreation Centre with the first tournament concluding Saturday 11th September, 2010.

Volunteers are needed to assist in the following roles:
- Team Managers
- Scorers
- Scoreboard Assistant
