Voluntary activities are pathways into community, providing opportunities for personal development, improved health and well-being, social interaction and the sharing of skills.

The demand for volunteering opportunities continues to grow. In November and December 2009 alone, there were 21000 on-line viewings of the positions loaded through the VSA&NT Referral Service. This is matched by an on-going demand from NFP organisations to recruit volunteers.

VSA&NT maintains a database of volunteer positions identified by volunteer involving organisations in South Australia and the Northern Territory. If you are a not-for-profit organisation and would like to recruit volunteers, please complete  the current vacancy form and we will advertise the position for you. The Referral Service is available to assist you with tips on completing the form to maximize the response to your advertisement.

In 2009, 24% of positions loaded were available outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area. We continue to focus on expanding the range of volunteering opportunities offered in regions of South Australia and the Northern Territory.

VSA&NT refers potential volunteers through the website, face to face and telephone interviews. For those people who are unsure about what they would like to do, the Referral Service has an experienced team of interviewers who will assist in matching interests and skills with the range of volunteering opportunities currently available. 

There are over 2000 positions listed through our website, giving you a variety of choices in the areas of arts and culture, health and community services, environment and animal welfare, education, justice and emergency services and sport and recreation.
