2011 State of the World's Volunteerism Report

The focus of this report is on the universal values that motivate people the world over to volunteer for the common good and on the impact of volunteer action on societies and individuals.

We believe in the power of volunteering to promote cooperation, encourage participation and contribute to the well-being of individuals and of society as a whole.

Volunteering Australia Publications

NAB Community Survey
Jointly commissioned by Volunteering Australia and National Australia Bank (NAB), the survey of community organisations also shows that 81 per cent of those surveyed believe the demand for their services is greater now than at any time in the past. Survey results included:  

  • 91 per cent of community organisations currently have volunteers assisting in their organisation
  • Close to one third of community organisations said over 75 per cent of their work is done by volunteers
  • 91 per cent of the community organisations surveyed said volunteers were very or extremely important to their organisation
  • On average, 47 per cent of community organisations engage in excess of 60 volunteers per year.

2009 National Survey of Volunteering Issues.
The annual National Survey of Volunteering Issues conducted by Volunteering Australia provides an insight into the issues that affect volunteering in Australia

The 2009 survey attracted a record number of participants with more than 3,700 respondents taking part, ensuring a wide cross section of opinions was received from individual volunteers, volunteer involving organisations and companies with employee volunteer programs.
