IYV+10 - the International Year of Volunteers plus ten

Inspiring the Volunteer in You.
"The 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), first launched in 2001, offers an exceptional opportunity to join a global effort to reinvigorate the spirit of volunteerism."

Background of the International Year of Volunteers, IYV
In 2011 the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) will be marked by celebrations and activities at the global, regional and national level by volunteer involving organizations, governments, UN agencies, foundations and other stakeholders. Building on the momentum and success of IYV in 2001, the objective of IYV+10 is to recognize the important contributions made by volunteers and to celebrate volunteering as an expression of our common humanity and as a means of building mutual respect, understanding, trust, solidarity and reciprocity. The overall goal of marking IYV+10 is focused on promoting greater global recognition of the contribution of volunteerism to society and to achieving peace and development (at the regional and national levels).

What inspires you to volunteer?

Share a photo, video or anecdote that captures your vision of volunteering in South Australia.

Approximately 830 000 South Australians share their time, skills, passion and knowledge through volunteering. That means that there are approximately 830 000 personal and unique stories of what volunteering means.

During the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) we would like you to contribute your story via photos, videos or simply an anecdote on our dedicated Facebook page. This will help build a picture of what volunteering means to us in South Australia that we can show to the world!

Get creative with your images of volunteering. Personalise it, make it your unique vision and show your recognition of IYV+10 by including '10' somewhere in your shot or video. This could be 10 objects or people, hands showing 10 fingers, a sign saying '10' or anything else representing '10'.

Got a great photo or video, then go to IYV+10 SA Facebook page - and "Like" the page to join in!
